The Sindhi Circle at Jai Hind College is all about celebrating the Sindhi language and culture. We organize a grand intercollegiate event called ‘HOJAMALO’, which brings together students from over 60 colleges across Mumbai and beyond, attracting hundreds of enthusiastic participants each year.

HOJAMALO is our way of promoting Sindhi heritage while creating an unforgettable cultural experience. Over two days of non stop fun, colleges showcase their talents through fashion shows, dance, drama, sports, gaming, and many more new and engaging events. It’s a vibrant festival that celebrates creativity, community, and the colorful spirit of Sindhi culture  and we can’t wait to share it with everyone!

Prof. N. W. Shivdasani,  affectionately remembered as Shivy Sir, continues to live in the heart and history of Jai Hind College. His journey here, from student to Professor, Principal, and eventually Director, was not simply a career path but an expression of love and commitment to an institution he believed in deeply. Gentle in his approach yet profound in his influence, he had a quiet way of guiding students - offering stability, encouragement, and clarity without ever needing to raise his voice. His presence made others feel grounded, understood, and inspired to become their best selves.

A proud member of the Sindhi community, Shivy Sir played a foundational role in reviving and nurturing the Sindhi Circle, helping it become a space where culture felt alive, celebrated, and shared with warmth and pride. He understood that culture is carried forward through people, through stories told, language spoken, memories honored, and community held close. The Sindhi Circle’s identity today - its belonging, spirit, and continuity,  stands upon the roots he so thoughtfully set in place.

Though he is no longer with us, his spirit remains deeply woven into the fabric of Jai Hind. Students remember him with fondness, teachers with admiration, and the Sindhi community with gratitude. His legacy is not just in the roles he held, but in the lives he shaped and the cultural foundation he helped preserve. In every gathering of the Sindhi Circle, in every celebration of language and heritage, in every young voice that continues forward - Shivy Sir lives on.

Dr. Kajal Ramchandani - a name that resonates with grace, intellect, and boundless dedication - has been an inseparable part of Jai Hind College since 1997. As a faculty member of Sindhi and a guiding force behind the Sindhi Circle, she has spent decades nurturing young minds and carrying forward the vision of Prof. N. W. Shivdasani, the founder of the committee. Her unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting Sindhi language and culture has made her the heart, soul, and living spirit of the Sindhi Circle and its flagship fest, Hojamalo.

A decorated academician, Dr. Ramchandani currently serves as a member of the Board of Studies at HSNC University and has been consistently selected as a BOS Member of the Maharashtra State SSC and HSC Boards and as part of the Maharashtra State Textbook Bureau, Balbharti, since 2010. Her contribution to designing and developing Sindhi curricula and textbooks has been truly remarkable - shaping not only the language but the generations who will carry it forward. Her creative influence extends far beyond the classroom, as she continues to guide cultural initiatives and literary endeavors that blend tradition with modern expression.

Yet, what makes her truly extraordinary is the rare sensitivity and empathy that define her. She possesses the remarkable ability to perceive what others may overlook - an unspoken emotion, a fleeting smile, a quiet ache. Her presence radiates calm strength and warmth, a perfect balance of substance and soul. Beloved by her students, admired by peers, and respected by the entire Sindhi community, Dr. Kajal Ramchandani remains the pillar upon which the Sindhi Circle stands - a timeless embodiment of devotion, wisdom, and the enduring Sindhi spirit that continues to inspire generations.

Jai Hind’s biggest cultural fest Hojamalo is organized annually by the Sindhi Circle of Jai Hind College. It is an intercollegiate fest wherein the goal is to spread cultural literacy to all age groups through fun as well as educational events.

Hojamalo was earlier hosted by Sindhi Circle in forms of entertainment events and different names which further led to the formation of an intercollegiate fest. Hojamalo has been a huge part of the Sindhi community since 2014 and continues to grow stronger.
